The Raid on Mount Oe: The Warriors' Plan

Thus did Yorimitsu's band of warriors finally come face to face with the Oni they had been ordered to slay, the wicked Shuten Doji. The warriors partook of his hospitality, merrily feasting, imbibing, and dancing, all in an effort to lower their enemy's defenses. Sensing that the moment was right, Yorimitsu offered Shuten Doji the divine sake the gods had gifted him. However, the wary demon at first refused to partake. After Yorimitsu drank of it, Shuten Doji finally drank the heady draft, and at once fell into a drunken stupor.
