Expanded demoThe original Kiyomizu-dera and Ganryu route now continues into the Oni Refuge, the Oni Bow, more combat lessons, and the Daidara boss fight.

Complete demo route

  1. Climb Kiyomizu-dera Temple while learning guard, parry, deflect, Issen, posture, soul absorption, Oni Vision, and Oni Armaments.
  2. Defeat Sasaki Ganryu on the temple stage. This was the end of the original demo, but is now the midpoint.
  3. Continue into the Oni Refuge, an otherworldly landscape of floating islands and conjured ruins.
  4. Find the Oni Bow, use ranged shots to answer archers and manipulate the environment, then clear the new Genma encounters.
  5. Defeat Daidara, the expanded demo's final boss.

Capcom's original estimate of about 30 minutes applied to the first version. Capcom has not published a replacement runtime for the expanded build, so any new exact hour estimate would be speculation.

How the Oni Bow works

The bow's current in-game description says it has endless arrows and can be summoned at any time.

  • Fire normal shots at distant enemies and remote objects.
  • Hold the input to charge a more damaging shot.
  • Aim at specific body parts where an encounter supports targeted damage.
  • Shoot Floating Rock Cores to drop suspended rocks onto enemies below.

See the Oni Bow mechanics record and current in-game tutorial for the action wording.

Daidara boss strategy

Daidara can consume loose souls before Musashi absorbs them. Collect souls during the fight instead of waiting until the battlefield is clear. After killing a smaller Genma, pull its souls into the Oni Gauntlet before returning to the boss.

The demo used different boss tuning from the released game. See the current Daidara record for health, posture, recovery, and defensive values.

Save data and Kubi Akari reward

Demo progress does not carry into the base game. Keep the save file anyway: Capcom says it unlocks the Kubi Akari charm, which boosts Musashi's stats when equipped. The charm is claimed through a Spirit Mirror after that feature becomes available in the full game.

Where to download it

The free demo is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch 2. Existing players only need to update their installed demo. On PC, the separate Steam demo page installs the current build.
