Lore
The power that revives Musashi
Oni power returns Musashi to life after the Genma kill him and binds the Oni Gauntlet to his arm. The artifact lets him kill Genma, absorb their souls, see hidden supernatural traces, and use Oni Armaments.
Oni power also appears through the Oni Lady, the Oni Refuge, Hozuki fruit, bows, armaments, and abilities. The gauntlet is one part of that system.

How Musashi uses Oni power
Musashi begins the story wanting the gauntlet removed because dependence on Oni power offends his pride as a swordsman. He accepts the bow, Oni Strength, and other abilities as the danger to Kyoto grows, but he continues to question the bond forced on him.
Sasaki Ganryu and Ono no Takamura also appear to bear Oni Gauntlets. Each man uses the power differently. The title Onimusha refers to a human warrior connected to the Oni.
