- Can I automatically collect souls?
Oni Awakening automatically absorbs loose souls while it is active. It requires a full Awakening Gauge and ends when the gauge runs out. For manual soul collection, hold L2 / LT on either PC controller preset, or C with the default keyboard bindings.

- How do I use Hozuki to heal?
Press D-pad up on either PC controller preset, or E with the default keyboard bindings. This uses the equipped Hozuki Pouch. Refill from your storehouse at a Spirit Mirror, or collect Hozuki while exploring.
- How do I change or improve a Hozuki Pouch?
Talk to Okuni to swap the equipped pouch or enhance it. Enhancements increase capacity and restorative power. Patching up the Pouch takes you through finding materials and bringing them back to her.
- How do I beat Dokyo?
Defend while advancing, then keep the fight close enough to deny her preferred range.
- How do I fight Byakue?
Favor deliberate heavy damage. Repeated weak hits let its blood-coated body grow more dangerous.
- Where can I check controller and keyboard buttons?
The controls table shows both PC controller presets and the default keyboard bindings. Match the controller column to your guard button. Custom bindings can differ, so check Control Settings if a prompt does not match.
- How do I unlock Carnage difficulty and New Game+?
Complete the game, then select New Game from the title screen. Carnage increases Genma strength. Transferring completed-game data keeps some upgrades and collectibles, while story progress, equipment enhancements, red souls, and the Oni Bow reset.
- Can I keep exploring after finishing the story?
Yes. You can return to The Clash at Rendaino point of the story with the enhancements and items you had at completion. Talk to Takamura when you want to continue the story again.
- When does Onimusha: Way of the Sword release?
September 4, 2026 globally. Steam displays September 3 in US time zones because of the worldwide unlock time.
- Does demo progress carry into the full game?
No. The demo does not become a full-game save. Keep the demo save file to receive the Kubi Akari charm in the full game.
- What changed in the expanded demo?
The August 25 update continues after Ganryu into the Oni Refuge, adds the Oni Bow and environmental shooting mechanics, and ends with a new Daidara boss fight.
- Does the Oni Bow run out of arrows?
No. The current in-game description says the Oni Bow has endless arrows and can be summoned at any time.
- How do I stop Daidara from stealing souls?
Absorb loose souls during the fight before Daidara can devour them. Do not wait until the battlefield is clear.
- Is it a Soulslike?
Capcom describes it as swordplay action. It has parries, posture breaks, Issen counters, soul absorption, and Oni powers. The producer describes a focus on satisfying action for a wide range of players, rather than extreme difficulty.
- Is it open world?
No. Its connected missions open into large explorable areas; there is no seamless open-world map.
- What is the difference between parry and deflect?
A parry creates an opening for a follow-up attack. A deflect deals much more stamina damage and can return ranged projectiles, but does not create the same direct opening.
- How does Issen work?
Counter Issen attacks into an incoming strike, Chain Issen continues a successful finisher into more targets, and Break Issen finishes an enemy after its posture breaks.
- What PC hardware does it require?
The current official requirements list an SSD and 50 GB of free space. The performance page contains the full minimum and recommended specifications.
